Michelle Stinson is an accomplished Associate attorney at Pierce Coleman PLLC, where she provides comprehensive legal support to public entities. Her areas of practice include municipal and election law, employment claims, and town police and prosecutorial matters. Michelle has developed a strong reputation for her work with municipalities, particularly in planning and zoning, water adjudication cases, and navigating complex legal frameworks to protect community resources.
 
Michelle serves as the assistant town or city attorney for several municipalities across Arizona, where she works to support and connect with the diverse communities she serves. Michelle regularly attends City Council meetings, reviews and drafts contracts, resolutions, and policies, provides detailed analysis on complex legal issues facing communities, and performs other general counsel duties.
 
Before joining Pierce Coleman, Michelle worked as a federal consultant in Washington, DC, where she primarily supported the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Environmental Public Policy from George Mason University in 2013.

Michelle earned her J.D. from Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, graduating with a certificate in Law & Sustainability. During law school, she served on the board of Jurimetrics: The Journal of Law, Science, and Technology and as Vice President of the Environmental Law Society. Her internships included positions with the U.S. District Court, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, and the Arizona Secretary of State’s Elections Division. As a certified election officer, she also played a key role in drafting Arizona’s 2019 Elections Procedures Manual.
 
Michelle serves as an adjunct professor of Environmental Law at George Mason University, where she teaches graduate students about the intersection of environmental values and the legal system.
 
Since moving to Arizona in 2018, Michelle has established herself as a trusted advisor to public entities, providing clear legal guidance and strategic planning. Outside of her legal work, she enjoys hiking and exploring new disc golf courses across the state.
